Heartburn: foods to avoid
One of the most uncomfortable, annoying and unfortunately common pregnancy symptoms is heartburn. Luckily, it is completely harmless, but that doesn’t mean you don’t want to avoid it. For this reason we have compiled a list of foods that have a reputation for causing heartburn. This doesn’t mean that all of the foods in this list are your triggers, everyone is different. You may be able to tell immediately what’s causing your heartburn or you may have to remove a few things at a time from your pregnancy diet to find out what your triggers are.
So here’s the list heartburn causing foods and beverages:
- Carbonated drinks
- Alcohol, which you really shouldn’t still be drinking
- Caffeine
- Chocolate
- Citrus fruits and juices
- Tomatoes
- Mustard
- Vinegar
- Processed meats
- Products containing mint
- Spicy or heavily seasoned foods
- Fried or fatty foods
Remember, not everything on this list may be a trigger for you, but it’s a good way to try and figure out what foods trigger your heartburn so you can cut them out of your pregnancy diet. We hope it helps!
